Beauty Tips for the Busy Mom
You're a busy mom...you want to have that "pulled together" look, but you don't want to spend an hour achieving it. Not to worry- it CAN be
done! We've put together a skin care and makeup routine to fit your hectice lifestyle.
Skin Care
In the morning...
- Splash your face with water
It's not a face wash, but perfectly fine for busy mornings - Apply a moisture with SPF
Cruicial for preventing future fine lines, wrinkles and sun spots
At night...
- Cleanse
We highly recommend PreCleanse first for removing makeup, then follow with your favorite cleanser...no bar soap. - Exfoliate
Do this 2-3 times weekly to get glowing skin...not necessary every night. - Treat concerns
This is your time to zone in on issues you want to correct...whether it's pimples, dryness or sun spots, invest in a treatment product and apply it as directed to boost your skin. - Apply a nighttime moisturizer
Your night cream should not contain any SPF...pick one that is right for your skin type, but don't skip this step!
Makeup
- Make your complexion look smooth and even with a foundation or powder
With mineral makeup, you don't need both for great coverage...choose between foundation or powder for a quicker application. - Apply 2 shades of eyeshadow for a quick but eye-popping look
Keep it simple and buy a 2-shade compact with colors that were meant to go together. Apply the darker shade to the lid and crease. Apply the lighter shade to the area under the brows to "highlight" the eyes. - Mascara
Unless you've got to-die-for lashes, most women need a coat of mascara. Just a quick coat on top and buttom is sufficient. - Fill in eyebrows, if necessary
If you've got sparce brows, fill them in with a pencil, powder or gel. Be sure it matches your hair color as closely as possible. Don't go too crazy or you'll get that "fake brow" look...just spend a few seconds filling in over thinning spots. - Cheek color
This step is a MUST make you look "alive"! Give your cheeks a gentle pinch...the color you see is the color you should try to match with your blush. Don't let your blush color extend past your pupil...sweep it up to the hairline to define your cheekbones. For extra diminsion, sweep a bronzer over your forehead, down the nose and across the decollete...you'll look "sun-kissed"! - Lip Color
A quick coat of lip color finishes your look.
For laid back days, blush and lipstick give you that color you need to look pulled together.
Must-Haves to Keep in Your Bag
Running around can leave anyone feeling "blah". Keep these secret weapons in your bag to freshen up at a moments notice.
- Facial Spritz
We carry POMMIST at all times...it adds moisture and is full of good-for-your skin ingredients. It even has pomegranate to help fight cancer. Spritz it any time to need a perk. It also helps set your makeup for extra staying power. Users tell us how they look forward to their mid-day spritz! - Lip Color
This pulls your look together, even if you don't wear any other makeup. - Hand Cream
We are slightly addicted to MultiVitamin Hand and Nail Cream, and we aren't afraid to admit it! It has Vitamin A to prevent aging hands, and even helps nails to grow and look fabulous.
Little Luxuries
Every mom needs a little "me time" each week! Don't feel bad about setting aside 20-30 minutes to pamper yourself and re-energize. Here
are a few ways to treat yourself without the guilt:
- Stress Relief Bath
Light a candle and put a few pumps of a stress relief oil in your tub. Close the door, shut your eyes and block out the rest of the world! This kind of treatment at a spa typically costs around $50.00! - Become your own manicurist
Mani/pedis can be expensive. When you're watching tv with the family, whip out your own manicure kit and give yourself gorgeous nails without the guilt of a pricey treatment. Multi-tasking at its finest! - Put on a mask and read a book
Facial masks are packed full of good-for-your-skin ingredients, but they often get overlooked since they need to stay on your skin for at least 10 minutes. After your shower apply a mask for your skin type, bundle up in a robe, and sit down with a good book or your favorite magazine. Your skin will glow and your mind will be at ease...moms sure know how to knock out 2 birds with 1 stone! - Seek out discounted services
Every now and then a mom needs a trip to the spa! Try sites like SpaIndex.com for discounts on spas in your area (or destination spots, if you REALLY need to get away). Don't pay full price for spa treatments...there are many ways to get them on a budget! - Unwind in the car
Get a CD that relaxes you (spa music, classical, nature sounds, etc.) and keep it in the car. When you find yourself alone in the car, listen to your music, take a deep breath, and use that time to relax. Just don't take your eyes off the road. :-) - Make doing the dishes a treat for your hands
Keep a hand lotion and rubber gloves under your sink. Lather up those hands...putting the gloves on will help lock in the moisture and protect hands from alkaline soap.
