Is your skin dry or flakey? Look for products with Hyaluronic Acid!

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

It's an ingredient that hold up to 1,000 times it's weight in water, which means it's super-hydrating. It's not an acid in the traditional sense...it has no exfoliating properties, and is not related to any of the hydroxy acids.

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occuring element in our skin's dermis. This means the skin readily accepts it in skin care products because it is so recognizable. It's physiological purpose is to hydrate and cushion skin. As we age, it begins to deplete. Smoking and improper diet can cause Hyaluronic Acid to deplete sooner.

Is Hyaluronic Acid a "Fountain of Youth" Ingredient?

No...some skin care companies tout it as the ultimate in anti-aging. The truth is: there is no single ingredient that can turn back the clock. It is however, great for instant relief of dry skin (think of it as a drink of water). It can also give you a temporary plumping effect. Incorporating it with ingredients like Vitamin A derivatives, hydroxy acids and peptides is great for anti-aging.

Who should use Hyaluronic Acid?

It can really work on all skin types, especially dry. Oily skin can get topically dry...meaning it needs WATER (not oil). Hyaluronic Acid is the perfect solution to topical dryness!
