Microdermabrasion is a simple yet effective skin treatment that renews skin's texture by removing topical debris and dead skin cells.

How does it work?

At Skin Care Logic, we use a diamond-head wand. (Some machines used aluminum oxide crystals, which is controversial because they are potentially dangerous if ingested). The wand head's natural diamond chips help to polish the skin, which get vacuumed back through a filter. This process rejuvenates skin and expedites the cell renewal process. Our crystal-free machine allows us to get closer to more delicate probelm areas like the eyes without the risk of crystals causing damage.

What can microdermabrasion do?

Many benefits can be achieved, including:

  • Minimizes fine lines/wrinkles
  • Refreshes oily skin
  • Lightens sun damage
  • Reduces acne and minor acne scars
  • Reduces blackheads/whiteheads
  • Minimizes some stretch marks
  • Rejuvenates dry skin

Is there any down time?

No! It is often referred to as a "lunch-time treatment" because you can go about your day afterwards. It is very common to experience a pink or red tone for a few hours after a microderm. Be sure to wear SPF afterwards because your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. You can put makeup on afterwards, but we like to let our skin "breath" when possible. :-)

How many treatments do I need?

That depends on the state of your skin and the results you want to achieve. Most people feel that there skin looks and feels better after just 1 treatment, but typically a series is needed to achieve more dramatic results in regards to sun spots, acne scars, etc. Everyone's skin is different, so run away from anyone that promises these results! We recommend spacing treatments about 2 weeks apart.

Who can get a microdermabrasion?

It works great for all skin types and colors! You should avoid this treatment if your skin is very delicate, your are using any Vitamin A products, prone to broken capillaries, if you have recently waxed or had laser treatments. Accutane users should certainly avoid this treatment, and should speak with a doctor if they want a microderm in the 2 years after finishing medication. Always speak with a physician if you have any concerns!
